The moving message from Naya Rivera's ex-husband: "None of this makes any sense"

Ryan Dorsey remembered the late actress, known for her role in the television series "Glee", on what would have been her 34th birthday.

The actress Naya Rivera died on July 8 last year at the age of 33. Known for her role in the music series "Glee," Rivera drowned during a trip on Lake Piru, California, where she had rented a boat to go sailing with her 4-year-old son Josey.

On the day of her 34th birthday, the actress' ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, dedicated some heartfelt words to her on Instagram, which he accompanied with a family photo. "As surreal as it is real, you're gone. Yes, that makes sense, but none of this makes sense yet... 34 ... I could hear you saying 'Ah, now I'm the old lady!' Rest in peace, old lady," wrote the actor next to the photo of him with his son and Naya.

The actor's moving message came six months after the actress's death. Rivera's body was found on July 13 at the lake where she had disappeared, after a five-day search by security forces.

"Mom jumped into the water and didn't come back up," his son Josey told authorities investigating the actress' disappearance. The boy was found alone and asleep in the boat. He was unharmed and according to the U.S. website TMZ, he told authorities that they both jumped into the water, but he got back in the boat and his mother did not.

Investigators said Rivera and his son got off the boat to swim, not realizing that the wind and water currents pushed them so far from the boat that they could be in danger. It was before this risky scenario that the actress gathered enough energy to save her son and then couldn't get out anymore.

On July 9, authorities announced that Rivera was considered dead after hours of searching and that the rescue operation was changing to one of recovering her body. Later, an autopsy ruled that the cause of Rivera's death was accidental drowning. She was buried on July 24th.

Dorsey, who was married to the actress between 2014 and 2018, had also expressed by instagram after the burial: "This is so unfair... There aren't enough words to express the hole left in everyone's hearts. I can't believe this is life now. I don't know if I will ever believe it". He added, "We miss you. We will always love you".

After the actress's death, her sister and her ex-husband moved to California together. Pictures of the two holding hands while shopping were also published. On social media, Dorsey talked about the speculations about his relationship with Nickayla Rivera. The actor said that he is living with his ex-sister-in-law to raise little Josey.
