Today's popular term for "keto diet" is the adaptation of the ketogenic diet. The name refers to the fact that it is a food model whose objective is the creation of ketone bodies.

The keto diet seeks to reduce the consumption of carbohydrates so that then the main source of energy is fats and allows you to lose weight efficiently.

Ketone bodies act as a source of energy for the brain just like glucose. The state of ketosis on this diet is similar to that of intermittent fasting and serves the same purpose.
