The short music video application, TikTok, has revolutionized the world of world entertainment in less than a year. There is no respected artist who has not opened an account on this social network. But do you know what its origins are and what it offers?

The name of the application, its original name is Douyin, which in Mandarin Chinese means "shake the music". For the rest of the world, it is called TikTok.

Despite the fact that TikTok was launched in 2106, and that it has grown more or less quickly, in the last two years it has expanded so much that celebrities saw a golden opportunity that they would not lose: being able to promote their music or musical tastes beyond Instagram. and Twitter, and perhaps, being able to enter the Chinese market.

And TikTok has been a surprise for technology giants like Facebook and Instagram, which it already exceeds by far in number of users. At the end of 2019, it had 500 million active users in the world, with India, the United States, Turkey and Russia being the countries that used it the most.

In addition, it was the third most downloaded app on Google Play in 2019, second only to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

What is TikTok, what can be done with it?

Tik Tok is an application that allows you to create, edit and publish videos in one-minute music selfies, making it perfect for artists, because it does not expose much or little of their musical work.

Furthermore, Tik Tok allows its users to apply effects and musical backgrounds, filters and augmented reality features.

You can also record in fast or slow motion and also allow communication between users and of course the typical system of followers and followed: Something like the Instagram of the videos.

And to the artists' relief, TikTok is the only social platform that allows you to record your videos in stages, being able to pause between shots and resume when you're ready to continue.

As if that were not enough, Tik Tok also allows you to share this content created on other social networks of the "competition", that is why celebrities record on TikTok and we can see their videos, yes with a great watermark, on other platforms with Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

Celebrities with TikTok

Several celebrities have already "fallen" into the temptation of the TikTok, and the videos on this platform really are of a different caliber. Karol G (@karolg), Jennifer López "JLo" (@JLo), Maluma (@papiJuancho), Shakira (@shakira), Justin Bieber (@justinbieber), Kyllie Jenner (@kyliejenner) and stop counting.

It seems that not joining TikTok is not being in fashion and within the reach of emerging markets such as India, Turkey or China itself, as impenetrable as its wall.
