Antiheroes are all the rage. There are more and more series and characters from films whose protagonists are not the typical caped heroes, but rather have flaws and even break the law.

On different platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or simply on the big screen, our typical kind heroes, without blemish, have given way to antiheroes, imperfect and troubled beings like each of us, making us feel closer .

One of these phenomena is "La Casa de Papel", the original Netflix series that, with four seasons, stole the heart, not only of Spanish speakers, but of countries as far away as Germany or Japan.

In "La Casa de Papel", the protagonists are a gang of thieves, who steal the Spanish coin and stamp factory, and print thousands of euros on their machines, so these bills cannot be tracked. And these crime geniuses are anything but "heroes". Almost all of them with significant criminal records and not very upright conduct, little by little became very dear "antiheroes".

The case of the Joker, the movie about the famous Batman villain released in 2019, was also a boom. Masterfully interpreted by Joaquìn Phoenix, it is the story behind El Guasón and why he is who he is. It explains a sad life behind the neurotic laughs of this character and it was a boom among the fans of comics.

And how not to mention "Game of Thrones" or "Game of Thrones", in Spanish. The most famous medieval adventure series ever televised. All the characters in this series are anything but good. Everyone has a dark side and in their eagerness to survive, they are capable of doing anything.

Morality and law enforcement are not characteristic of the four families in dispute over the "iron throne": Lannister, Stark, Targaryen, and Baratheon. But we love them! It is not true?

And even shameless antiheroes like Dead Pool or terribly complex like X-Men have tended to humanize typical superheroes, showing that they are nothing more than humans and that they can become as vulnerable as the Superman in front of a piece of kryptonite .

And this trend does not seem to be reversible. The public asks for more and better antiheroes, to challenge the system and, why not, to be one more walking the streets of this highly globalized and hyperconnected society.
